Arrest Made for Firearm Possession (11/18/21)

Mount Vernon Police Officers arrested a Bronx man for possession of an illegal handgun during a traffic stop.

At approximately 3:20 AM on November 18, 2021, Mount Vernon Police Officers conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in the area of South 1st Avenue and Sandford Blvd. During the course of the traffic stop those officers determined that the vehicle was not properly registered. At this point the driver, identified as 30-year-old, Cedric Tam, of the Bronx and his two passengers were asked to exit the vehicle, so that it could be impounded for the registration violations. After Tam exited the vehicle a semi-automatic handgun and a loaded magazine were discovered in the car.

Tam was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree and held for arraignment in Mount Vernon City Court. His passengers were interviewed and ultimately released.
