The City of Mount Vernon in collaboration with Westchester-Putnam Career Center Network hosted the “Mount Vernon Works Job Fair” at the Westchester-Putnam Career Center located at 130 Mount Vernon Avenue on Tuesday, January 31st from 10 am - 2pm. This hiring event had 13 partners who were looking to hire jobseekers. Amongst our participating partners there were five Westchester based business, four community-based organizations, 2 unions and 2 City of Mount Vernon departments in search of new employees. These employers were looking to fill various positions including administrative, drywall installers, joiners, painters, roofers, HVAC technicians, general laborers, welders, electricians, and more.
Over 160 applicants participated in the “Mount Vernon Works Job Fair”. There were approximately 25 individuals who were hired on the spot. Hiring managers will complete post interview surveys and finish hiring prospective employees within the next ten business days.

I’m glad to see jobseekers take advantage of the opportunities created by the local business community. Today was an example of what a strong workforce ecosystem can be.”
