The first incident occurred at approximately 2:00 PM on 09/24/22 when officers responded to the call of a man in possession of a firearm in a black BMW, in front of 40 East Sidney Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, they observed a vehicle matching the description and as they attempted to speak with the driver, he fled into the building at 40 East Sidney as the officers gave chase. He was apprehended shortly thereafter within the building and a firearm was recovered. The firearm was found to be stolen out of North Carolina. While the driver of the vehicle possessed a valid New York State Driver’s License, his vehicle was unregistered due to an insurance lapse. A firearm was located inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Lawrence Broodie, aged 39, of Mount Vernon was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and is presently awaiting bail on $3,000 cash, $6,000 bond and $10,000 partially secured bond, issued by the court.
